Yes, sadly it's entirely possible they would be that gullible.

Alot depends on this years elections. If the Republicans take a hammering, and he's still polling like shit, he could just declare he's fixed everything and doesn't need a second term, rather than risk defeat. Then he could retire undefeated as the greatest President ever (in his own head).
Unfortunately that means he'd still be there, spouting bullshit from the sidelines. Electoral defeat is the only way to exorcise him completely.

i can't see him winning another term. i know it was an upset the first time but his base alone won't be enough. women and people of colour will be his downfall no matter who runs against him. he'll know this and his ego probably won't even let him run.
