His attempts to save face the other day weren't too clever, but now to have reversed to the "faults on both sides" attitude is staggering. If Arsenal and Manchester United have a punch up on the pitch, then possibly there's "faults on both sides", but if one side murders a member of the other side, then that generally means the burden of guilt tips very much one way.

You can see how Trump talks directly to his disaffected grunt soldiers all the time. The big correlations with his own traits lie in his dehumanizing characterisations of those who are his enemies and opponents, along with his repeated willingness to employ violence in his everyday language. The latter is virtually unique amongst statesman at this level (a prime example was his "I'd like to punch that guy" in response to a heckler at one of his campaign rallies). If he had been born with less advantages Trump would have been out there with his Tikks Torch bearing brethren.

He will never stop campaigning even if he gets a second-term, not only because it's what he is best at, but also because guys like him are never content with anything.
