I wanted to recommend naito, as a regular follower of new japan has been great to see the influx of new talent that has come through over the years with naito been of a few that really have risen up to the top in such a short period of time, well reversed in style can mix up with submission, currently holding the new japan heavyweight championship and fully deserving, has taken the transformation from face to heel with a chip on his shoulder and made the role his own.

NOAH's biggest star ever is considered by Power Slam magazine and many others to be the greatest in ring performer of all time.Was the number three native in All Japan behind Mitsuhara Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada for the majority of the 1990s.Renowned for his orange ring attire and high moonsault finisher in his All Japan days.Left All Japan for new league Pro Wrestling NOAH in June of 2000.His high impact offence and punishing ring style left him with severely damaged knees.(each required 9 ssperate operations in 2001).His two year reign as GHC champion from 01/03/2003 to 05/03/2005 was on of the greatest reigns in pro wrestling history.Also survived kidney cancer

Awesome selection.I especially recommend Same Zayn vs Nakamura from NXT Takeover and the ROH 14th Anniversary Show triple threat.

I think it speaks volumes that a lot of what we consider match or matches of the year are now coming outside of the juggernaut that is WWE, hopeful the year can continue to produce more of the same, and from what I have seen lately from NJPW its only getting better.

Yeah,if the top brass in WWE booked their best workers correctly instead of just constantly pushing muscle freaks it could be a different story.As you rightly say, the best matches in terms of pure quality are taking place elsewhere.

Wrestled for WCW as AJ Styles and fighter pilot Air Styles from January to March 2001.Left WCW and made his debut in ROH in a spectacular match with Low Ki on the promotion's third show on 27/04/02.Became TNA's first X Division champion when Jerry Lynn put him over in a magnificent effort on the 19/06/02.Wrestled for Zero One in Japan in January 2003.Won the NWA title for the first time in a triple threat match with Jeff Jarrett and Raven on 11/06/03.Then became the star of TNA's X Division in 2004 and had legendary matches against Petey Williams,Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin to name a few.Three way feud with Samoa Joe and Chris Daniels provided the most consistently exciting bouts in the world from September 2005 to March of 2006.Formed a tandem with Daniels and captured the NWA tag team title in a heated series against Homicide and Hernandez in 2006.Heel turn was also a revelation.Currently faces an uncertain future in WWE.

Although known in recent years for being a total embarrassment in and out of the ring,there was a time when be was required viewing.He was wrestling's premier all round performer from and the leading box office attraction for Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW for the entire decade of the 80s.Had classic matches and fueds with Roddy Piper,Kerry Von Erich,Harley Race,Dusty Rhodes,Barry Windham,Magnum TA,Sting and many others.
Headlined the first Starrcade with Harley Race in a cage and won his first NWA world title on November 24th 1983.He was also the last wrestler to tour the old territory system as NWA champion before Vince MacMahon destroyed it.A founding member of the original(and best)Four Horseman faction. Elevated Sting from mid carder to superstar in one night in their famous 45 minute draw at the first Clash of the Champions on march 27th 1988.Had his best ever year in the ring in 1989 at age 40 with celebrated matches against Ricky Steamboat,Terry Funk and The Great Muta.Joined the WWF in September of 1991 and then participated and won the 1992 Royal Rumble in what is the best performance in a Rumble match ever.(That years Rumble has never been topped)Was still having great matches in 1993 with Steve Austin,Brian Pillman and Vader.

Best known for his time and tenure in WWE after receiving a contract under the tough enough route, had a successful tag team stint with partner joey mercury and valet melina under the name MNM holding the championships on multiple occasions, having gone into the singles route in 2006 he further picked up more gold capturing the intercontinental. Mundo left WWE in 2011 and then since worked the independent scene before joining Lucha Underground a different style which he has adapted to seamlessly and had major success.
