But from beyond the bunker to the right he chipped to ten feet and holed a crucial par putt to lead Justin Rose by 4 and Phil Mickelson by 5.
The toughest day of Spieth's young career is set to be played out in the final round.
All the pressure of leading for so long with glory in sight.
Will he self destruct Greg Norman style?
Or can he hold firm in the storm of the final round?
Time will tell.

Spieth held his nerve to win by 4 shots with a score of -18.
And won me a few quid in the process .

Well done to Jordan Spieth. He won the competition in a record low score and it was only the fifth time that someone has lead on all four rounds.

Given all the hype beforehand about Rory and the unlikely resurrection of Tiger Woods, I can only salute just how well Spieth did, and also spirited efforts from Rose and Mickelson.
