The fact that a flying object is unidentified doesn't stop it showing up on radar though. In this case there was no unidentified radar sighting in the area where the plane was, so therefore no UFO present.

Boeing issued a warning last August about fuselage cracks in the area of the transponder & comms antennae.

My money is on catastrophic fuselage failure in that area.

The Chinese have announced they might have found wreckage on satalite pictures taken days ago

Yes I'm thinking along those kind of lines. I don't think the transponder was ever turned off by anyone.

Well it's in just the right place because it's where they were searching at the start, in line with the plane's last reported position. I think it's a high chance that this find is going to be confirmed as pieces of the plane.

I haven't seen any report of the other 777 airliners being grounded, if this is a real possibility of what happened. Usually there is a tendency to err on the side of caution when a worrying problem comes to light.

The reports I've seen say Boeing issued a warning last August but the FAA have it as June.

Yes it looks like another red herring. Vietnam are saying that their planes had already searched that area anyway and found nothing.
