Would you be interested in a babeshow specific torrent server

Hey guys

im just wondering if people would be interested if i created a babeshow specific torrent server

theres nothing set in stone yet just need a project to keep me out of mischeif over the cold winter months and thought with the problems we all have with file sharing sites then maybe creating a P2P site/server where we could all share babeshow clips and would be a great idea


what does everyone think ? would you use one and if you downloaded material would you be prepared to seed files for a while for the sake of keeping a site or server going

The big problem would be getting people to seed. I'd guess most people just download the vids, and probably wouldn't be polite enough to keep sharing the files they've nabbed, so it would rely on the vid makers sharing their own content, which would require plenty of storage space and bandwidth.

They now do one for 8.99 per month with 500GB drive. These are often used as seed boxes for torrents, and that's about the cost of premium file-hosting account.

think will try homebrew version first as i got a spare pc better spec than the cheapest option so i can use to hold all the torrents and files. just not sure sky allow you to run webservers on there oh well something to look into

I believe there's merit in having conversation, discussion and debate about how we can best support the forum and the video content.
With the ever changing state of the file sharing services, most notably with RapidShare's latest efforts, this is going to hamper ability to effectively share content.

Challenge for torrent services are down to p2p being throttled by far too many ISPs (well that's certainly the case in UK), and also many people have fixed limits meaning they'd not be willing or indeed able to maintain seeds to keep things alive.
Yeah the video posters such as myself could always keep a peer/seed going, but that's a cost we'd have to absorb and indeed may need more personal kit at home to ensure this is available.

I tend to lean towards the cheap hosting or VPS services that will allow non-standard services. They provide a better platform, always on, and usually come with no bandwidth restrictions (well none that we'd hit if not sharing files directly).

The other option, which I grant you is a bit more technical, is to move content out of sharing and into Usenet. This is a one-time upload and then anyone in the world can receive and there's no limits or whatever, with plenty of providers giving good and cheap service.
Yeah it requires everyone to either use what they get free from their ISP or cough up a small bit of cash, but it something to consider....

blimey ive not used Usenet since the 90's when i became addicted to that and IRC hahaha

I use usenet for films and such but that seems to be getting alot of takedown notices lately so I wouldn't like to think of what the future will be for it, as said torrents will all depend on the vid uploaded seeding constantly cause I doubt 99% of the people who download will seed.


Honestly think your future still lies with file hosts but you'd be better off using something like http://www.directmirror.com

How do you view that working, any sites you have in mind? Whenever I've looked at VPS in particular, it seems to offer very little storage space, which would be a real issue for the main posters here.

I have a free usenet account at xusenet (previously I was a long time subscriber at Easynews), works OK, but has limits. Most groups only store 30 days of content, and there is no uploading for free accounts.
To upload, you really need a paid account somewhere, and to keep your files available, you'd need to re-upload at regular intervals. Even the paid usenet hosts only reliably provide content for about a year.
Overall I think usenet would be too technical for most vid uploaders to deal with, and way beyond most downloaders!

I have a 2 year account with them which I use to backup my own forum using rsync. I have over 100GB on there so far. There were a few issues with access around 6 months ago, it would sometimes be unavailable for a couple days, but they have improved considerably since then, and rebranded slightly, and I have no problems recently.

wow might be worth a look and for about 35 quid for 2 years worth a risk

The option perhaps worth exploring would be direct integration between the forum and that online storage provider.
Linking the ability of the forum software to have attachments but have storage off their service may yield an option... ?

The VPS suggestion was purely around the hosting of the torrent server, not the content - you'd never get enough from normal VPS suppliers.

The features of the service look interesting (see here). So even if this goes nowhere, I'll be checking out their service as it's a steal with unlimited safe storage.

The thing with torrents is that, as other's have pointed out, it's highly unlikely people will seed. If people aren't bothering to even create an account to thank the poster what are the chances they'll leave a 300mb+ torrent seeding? So because of that the uploader will be left with the burden. And with the more prolific uploaders having several tb's of content they would need to leave their hdd's plugged in 24/7 (or at least while they're awake).

But assuming people would seed and you only had 1 hdd to worry about, your internet connection may not cope well with uploading several files at once. I know that if I'm recording several streams at a time I need to shutdown utorrent or else my recordings will be a stuttering mess.
Maybe the money saved from your RS sub's could go towards a seedbox.
