half the stuff is sarky remember his comments about the mexicans on top gear same with lorry drivers. so unison can afford to take strike action and donate to the labour party therefore they can subsidise their members pension.

Clarkson was just being a knob its what he does best. All he does to earn his inflated BBC salary is drive like a complete tosser and make a prat of himself every time he opens his mouth, thats what happens when you have a mouth the size of Cheddar Gorge and a brain the size of a pea.I can only assume he has another one of his infantile DVDs out for Christmas and is in desperate need of the publicity.

RE: Public Sector Strike
This whole economy debate has me torn.I can see and accept the dire financial perils and that everyone has to accept a little pain.
But the key word there is EVERONE it seems as though, as it always is ,it is the ordinary working man/woman with least to spare that is being asked to give most, whike the rich merely continue to get richer but at a slightly slower rate. For instance it does grate a bit when workers are told they must accept 1% pay rise in some cases none at all, by a millionaire chancellor. Then posh boy Cameron comes out with surely the most assinine political sound bite "We're all in it together" when we learn executive pay rises are averaging 49%

RE: Public Sector Strike
A modern day strike often means just not bothering to turn up to work the following day, ie staying in your kip all day instead, what kind of a protest is that, I said to a couple of my friends who were on strike on Wednesday, I suppose you'll be out with the banners and chaining yourself to the gates etc and they said no we'll just no go into work tommorow, what the hell kind of strike is that, about as pointless as john and yoko bed in protest against the Vietnam War, it achieved nothing, if you're not going to take to the street and protest properly then it just makes the whole thing pointless, now don't get me wrong, I fully support the strike, but just not in the manner it is being conducted, you're as well as not bothering at all for all the good it's going to do but cost business's millions in lost revenue for the day Cool

Support the council workers at the bottom of the pay scale. Its top and middle management that are the problem. Heads of some councils earn more than the prime minister, its out of control.annoyedannoyed

RE: Public Sector Strike
Public sector strikes are always a joke. Most of the guys n gals that go on strike are just happy for the day off work. How many of the millions of workers went to the rallies; Not alot.
Striking is meant to be a serious action but striking now just seems to have turned into a farce.
I'am from Fife which had a big mining community and i can still remember the scabs having to get picked up for work in riot buses.
These strikers just think it's just another paid holiday.

The results of this research, published today in various media, in addition to illustrating that the public sector (on average) earn more than the private sector, show that this disparity is greatest for those on lower incomes.

well some can afford a day of strike and go crimbo shopping. if they strike they should lose a months wages. that will make them think twice about striking.

averages are a dodgy statistic. it only takes a small number of people on the higher side of the earnings table to increase and skew the average. plus, there is a hell of a lot more people working in the private sector than the public sector, which would throw the average statistic off more.
