RE: Ted Lowe RIP
Racing had Peter O'Sullevan, Tennis had Dan Maskell, Motor Racing: Murray Walker and Cricket had John Arlott. Snooker had Ted Lowe. He was inspirational as a man and a commentator. He had a sense of what to say and how to say it and impeccable timing. Most of all he realized the value of silence when required. He knew the moment when one word or no words were sufficient. Let the actions speak louder. This is an art that very few commentators have ever really understood. He was never one to waffle endlessly. For many people including me he will always be the voice of snooker. One of the finest exponents of his line of work in any era. May he rest in peace.
