Sky + box pronounced dead!

Just over one year on,and the replacement box i got from sky at £65 with instalation has stopped working. A mate of mine is an engineer and has tested the signal and run tests on the box to determine it is akshully broken. Ive just bought another on Ebay for £20 so will be out of action for a few days and greatful for any posts (esp the last footage from tvx) . Im gutted to have lost quite a lot of saved footage,fave girls shows,and some of the recent stuff id not yet backed up to dvd from friday and before! I do have most of it on dvd tho, and i would advise anyone to do this soon after recording. I cant understand why these things dont last longer, its very bad value for money see you soon, and thanks. s

i assume you've tried a hard reset?

switch off at the wall and then hold the left and right directional buttons on the front panel.. switch back on and wait until the large green cirle goes green... when it does (it will start flashing).. hit the select button the front panel.. the green circle will go backwards for a few minutes.

It will then go into standby mode.. leave two mins and then switch back on. you'll loose anything on the hard drive but you maybe able to use the box again.

Try you box on a friends Sky dish... it will prove if its your box or your aerial

Thanks guys, my friend is a sky engineer. he brought his test equipment with him,did all those resets, its def the box.

The box may be dead but the HDD may be ok, get it plug into ya pc, you may be able to salvage the footage thats on it

Once again, that spell Vikki Thomas put on stilettos has worked a treat.

Cheers, ill ask him tomorrow. hes loaning me a normal sky box till my replacement +box arrives. No recording,but ill still be able to watch or put stuff straight onto dvd.

Yey! My sky box is fine! It was the LNB on the dish, which means i can upload some of siobhan's last night show on dirty talk, and some morgan james too! see ya soon guys!

Well it's good to hear it was something as simple as just a faulty LNB.

But shouldn't you Sky engineer friend of detected that with a simple diagnostic!!!!!!
