X-Men 2

Up there with being one of my fav X-Men movies and big improvement over the first one, the same can’t be said about the third film. X-Men 2 does look stunning on blu ray. My only issue with the film and trilogy is Cyclops was so under used in each film.

9.4/10.

North By Northwest (1959)

Excellent Alfred Hitchcock movie starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason.
Grant plays a Manhattan adman plunged into a realm of spy and counterspy and variously abducted, famed for murder, chased and in a signature set-piece, crop dusted. He also hangs for dear life from the facial features of Mount Rushmore's Presidents. One of Hollywood's most enjoyable thrillers ever, with great directional shots and soundtrack.

One of my all time favourites, so I'm obviously giving it a 5/5

Carrie (2013)

There's been a few reviews of rebooted films recently on the forum, most of them less than favourable. Indeed, I reviewed one particularly bad horror remake with Night Of The Living Dead (1990) the focus for my ire. With this though, I was pleasantly surprised. It is rather good, or at least as good as a Carrie remake could be. Chloe Grace Moretz is very good as the severely bullied girl who develops telekinetic powers to turn the tables on her tormentors, while Julianne Moore gives a brilliantly antagonistic performance as her unhinged, overprotective, religiously fanatical mother. What I liked best was that it doesn't try too hard to copy the original word for word. Sure, there are things the same and some people may wonder what the point of a remake was, but I found it to be an effective tribute to that original, while also putting its own mark on a memorable Stephen King story. I was genuinely moved by the youngster's plight - Moretz is becoming a favourite actress of mine, already boasting an impressive CV for a variety of different and challenging roles. Portia Doubleday, Judy Greer, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort and Alex Russell also star. Worth a look. 3.5 / 5

^ I watched that at the weekend, I agree. Worth a look, but doesn't blow you away. Dopey scientists Rolleyes

Atomic Blonde - 7.5/10.

Brutal stuff, Charlize kicks ass and takes a beating. As others have said, parts are a little predictable, but it's still entertaining and worth watching. Sofia Boutella...Oh hello...needs to be in more stuff. It has a nice twist, although you get to a certain point and see it coming.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

The 8th film in the Star Wars saga & only The Empire Strikes Back is better for me.

The special effects are amazing, the action is fantastic from start to finish & it's also got plenty of very funny moments along with plenty of drama & emotion (you will shed a tear or two)

Daisy Ridley is again excellent as Rey, John Boyega is very good as Finn & Adam Driver is an excellent villain as Kylo Ren. The rest of the cast plays their part in this fantastic film, especially Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher reprising their roles as Luke Skywalker & Leia Organa.

It is a fitting tribute for Carrie Fisher when sadly passed away soon after filming finished on The Last Jedi

10/10

So it's not overrated like The Force Awakens was?
