Either we played it tight and pushed chelsea into making mistakes or chelsea were playing very porrly for us to win 1-0 (or did 'arry ring Fergie for advice?) I couldn't believe it when 'Arry said he hates the transfer window!! Big Laugh

SWP has not scored for 969 days in premier league! What a time to score #qpr

Good grief, that's nearly over three years right?

As far as I can see, there appears to be more than one person advising/acting as agent for Ba. That is not uncommon, particularly for some foreign players. It seems they get themselves into situations where a number of different people/groups have a vested interest in them, taking a cut of their income or transfer or sponsorship deals along the way (remember Tevez was 'owned' by some company when he came to the UK, a situation which I think is now outlawed).
Anyhow, I think what Pardew was meaning was that some of those advising Ba were giving him advice which benefited them more than it benefited him (i.e. take a transfer because they will get a large cut of the fee).

As for the get-out clause, as I understand, it was a simple 'if someone offers X amount he is free to leave'. Chelsea made an offer of the appropriate amount, so Newcastle had no option but to allow Ba to talk with them, as per the clause. Ba did not trigger it, he couldn't and nor could his agents, it required an offer from another club.
The reasons behind the clause are clarified by admin earlier in this thread.

Thanks for clearing that up munch but like money shot said surely that clause should never have got into the public domain and should have remained 'confidential' as it were?

Who thinks ba will suffer the same fate robbie keane did? Keane was banging in the goals for spurs which led to Liverpool buying him but then dumping him on the bench and then was sold 6 months later?

Do remember though that these 'advisor's' to Ba are the very advisor's that took him to Newcastle in the first place.

Oh fudge sticks.

Just read somewhere that Ben Arfa will not be back till February. I was fully sure he would be back for the Norwich game, oh well I'm content with Obertan and Marveaux on the wings.

Good to hear as well Steven Taylor and Cabaye are starting to train again.

I believe we can get out of this relegation battle, but its going to be a long last few months to the end of the season for us.

I never believe we are too good to go down after what happened the last time even though you could argue that this squad is better than the one that got relegated a few years ago.

Also on QPR, I still think they are in deep shit and will get relegated this season.

mmhm but whatever happens someone sure has made a lot of money not only by advising ba and leaking that clause to the papers. I doubt Newcastle would ever have let htat information get into the public domain. (or was there phone hacking done?)

I wish Baines would shave those sideburns, he's starting to look like Bradley Wiggins.

Not so long ago he was saying how much he loved newcastle and playing there...

What's he gone there for? Simple. A chance to play in the Champions League (if they finish top 4) a chance to compete for a title, and a chance to potentially win trophies.
He is a proven Premier League striker and Chelsea currently are very light up front. All it'll take is an injury to Torres he'll be given his chance. If he takes that chance, or his chances in the 10-15 minutes he might find himself in the first team regularly.

Let's be honest, Drogba was hardly known as a world beater was he? He'd had a decent season and Chelsea brought him at an over inflated price.

Ba isn't getting any younger and a bit of a read up in to his background will tell you this bloke has done things the hard way. He got turned away from Barnsley once upon a time! With all due respect to Newcastle, if any of the top sides come in for one of their players, they are going to seriously consider any offer.

You can throw facts and figures at me all day long, im not interested in them, my point is Ba is going to chelsea to probably spend his time sat on his backside on the bench, yes chelsea might have more chances of winning things, so what?, look at lukakku last season, it's players like him I respect, when they won the champions league, he spent most the time on the bench and then after they won he refused to touch the trophy or celebrate with the rest of the team or wear his medal because he said he didn't feel like he was part of it or earnt it, he wanted to play football week in week out and earn his money so he went out on loan to west brom, and look what he's helping them achieve this season, to me that shows more heart and desire than Ba pretty much running away from a situation of a team going through a rough patch and showing a little fight to help a club which he claimed he loves playing for, newcastle offered him a new contract and he wouldnt sign it, obviously he'd rather be a bit part player and glory hunter than show a bit of backbone and fight and earn his money. He certainly wont be playing in champions league or europa foe chelsea this season as he's cup tied, and when chelsea go and bring in big names in the summer he's just going to drop further and further down the pecking order, then who's going to want him? I think his career is slowly going to take a downhill turn from here.

So moving to a big name London club is a mistake for him? Surely he thinks he has skills as a forward that will give him the chance to play quite regularly? Newcastle certainly did or they would not have bought him. He will be to an extent an unknown quantity playing at this level, but who is to say that he might not bang in the goals for Chelsea...only time will tell. I do agree about the lack of loyalty to a team but that can be said of probably the majority of players when big money is being discussed. He will be in a much bigger shop window at Chelsea (no offence to Newcastle but other countries don't realise that there is life beyond the capital) and so will have a better chance of attracting future lucrative offers from abroad should he not make the grade at Chelsea.
