I can't be arsed to read through all the posts as to who, why & what was the reason for 3 teams getting relegated.

But to add my 2p worth, they got relegated because they were shit over 38 games, FACT!!!
I liked Blackpool though.... Except the 2 games at Bloomfield Road & Anfield.

RE: Football Banter
blackpool will be losing over half of their team, holloway will be staying according the chairman/owner.

the rumour transfer front chelsea look to get rid of the 30 somethings in their squad and buy in younger players.

an entertaining season all round. as lindor said the negative minded era of jose "not so special one" "moaring" mourinho has finally over. an average of nearly 3 goals a game, 191 clean sheets of out 760, lesser teams picking points of the bigger teams, a relegation battle at one point covering over half of the table (i think about 10 games left). the gap between the prem league and championship is alot closer now but the financial aspect is widening, birmingham, blackpool and west ham miss out on around £70m-£80m from not being in the premier league.

west ham could find themselves in league 1 for the 2012/13 season. if they need get the right manager and players in.

Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester United will sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea this summer.

Sir Alex has been scouring Europe to find a replacement for veteran shot-stopper Edwin van der Sar, who will retire after Saturday's UEFA Champions League final with Barcelona.

RE: Football Banter
statement by Biringham chairman Peter Pannu as interesting as much for what it doesn't say:
saying that the board "regrets the result and subsequent relegation and feels that supporters, who have continued to back us magnificently have been let down"--By who is not mentioned.Players? manager? board?

It also states that manager Alex McCleish's job is safe but the board "EXPECTS him to lead the team back to the Premier League" so no pressure then.Does that mean if hes not in top 6 at Christmas then bye bye.
And he also has a message of sympathy for the pain being felt by supporters like everyone connected with the club. You should try supporting them all your life not just arriving for a few years!

Outrageous insult to one of Wales' top studs wingers.

Maybe Gazfc should be banned from the 'Football Banter' thread as well. Wink

(23-05-2011 19:28 )lindor Wrote:  Abramovich certainly has much to answer for, given his constant chopping and changing of managers, but Ancelotti was no great appointment. Yes he won two Champoins Leagues, and I recall his AC Milan team of Kaka et al giving United a real footballing lesson in the Semi-final of 2007, but I always think back to how good a side that Milan side looked back then and the personnel they had and wondered how the hell the man only managed to win ONE Serie A title in eight years with THOSE players!!!

Part of the reason why Ancelotti was a popular appointment not necessarily his record but because of Roman apparently being a massive fan which led a lot of people that this would be a long-term appointment and give the club some form of stability. So it’s got to the point where I’ve kind of accepted this manager merry go round is just how it’s gonna be for now.
Anyway I think it’s unfair to say he wasn’t a good appointment, he’s done a great job at the club in both years. The double in his first season speaks for itself, as for the second season. Well I'm not using injuries as an excuse, but in our title-winning season Lampard & Drogba contributed (i.e. Scored or assisted) to 79% of our goals. Now if one of them is out for half the season, and the other fella contracts malaria, I think it’s fair to say that’s gonna have a considerable effect on the goals tally, which is arguably why we didn’t put up a bigger fight to keep our title (best defensive record in the league). I know you meant his record at AC wasn't great but at the end of the day he done well in his time at Chelsea, which showed it was a good appointment.

For argument's sake I'll assume that Abramovich does want a long-term manager, then David Moyes would be by far my numero uno choice to succeed Carlo. For several reasons, obviously this will never happen, but I would be over the moon if Roman brought him in.

Another Chelsea manager bites the dust. Itchy fingers Abramovich makes yet another one of his employees' jobs impossible. Huh

Costs him millions in compensation every time he sacks another manager, but I suppose its nothing to get in a twist about for an idiot with a bottomless pit of cash. I mean, just look at his average lunchbill.... WinkBig Grin

Great victory for Scotland tonight, my only disappointment being that England refused to take part in the tournament, a Scotland v England match is well overdue, remember the last time the teams met was in a play-off for Euro 2000 and we had England on the backfoot that night winning 1-0 at the old Wembley Stadium. Maybe England are just scared of coming up against the mighty Scots again.

and where did that victory get you ? that's right nowhere because we beat you 2 - 0 at hampden park thanks to paul scholes Big Grin meaning we went to euro 2000 and you stayed at home snarlin' at your tv screens Tongue

i think the reason we won't play in the home nations is because it would hinder us in our qualification for the major tournaments were as yourselves wales RoI and northern ireland are not expected to qualify for these tournements because of your lack of ability (a dig) so they've prepared this home nations cup just to cheer you lot up (another dig)
