I'll be ordering it, even if this one did kinda creep up on me. I knew there was a PPV coming up soon, but I wasn't getting excited over it like I sometimes would.

Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk is my favourite feud in wrestling right now. Most of what Punk's done in the last 12 months has been fucking awesome though, starting with the Money in the Bank cash-in and feud with Jeff Hardy. His best stuff since leaving Ring of Honor, actually.

I think Punk's winning that, Rey becomes Punk's bitch for a month, then Rey puts his Mask on the line to get out. I don't think Punk should get shaved, and Rey's never getting unmasked again.

Jericho & Miz vs the Hart Dynasty has the potential to be a good match as well, provided they don't get screwed over on time, hopefully this becomes a feud for a few months as well.

I also think that the Punk vs Mysterio match has great potential to keep this feud going, providing its done in the right way. I agree that the best way would be for Punk to win here, and then Mysterio to break free later on. But Mysterio being Punk's minion for a couple of months should be interesting. Smile

I hope the divas match gets more coverage, because at some other ppv's they've failed to show a divas match that was on the card, they probably put it on during a commercial break or something. annoyedannoyedannoyed They'd better not do this again. annoyedannoyedannoyed

Just watched the morning replay.

The Mysterio/Punk match was very well executed, the first time in a long time that a WWE contest had me on the edge of my seat.

Maryse has a lot of charisma, her laughs, cries and tantrums really made that match.

Matt Stryker brought a great deal to commentary, he seems to force Cole to up his game to a decent standard, (something that even JBL couldn't do) and he also seems to get Lawler to return to form.

I think that this was the first non Wrestle Mania PPV in the last 4 years that was worth paying £15 for.

It was the best thing on the show, but WWE NEEDS TO KNOCK IT OFF WITH BLOOD STOPPAGES!

I get that WWE has gone PG and tried to become more "family friendly". Therefore I understand there will be no blade jobs and such. But when someone gets opened hardway like Punk did, and they stop the match to clean him up, it damages the match. You could see that Punk was irate, and the crowd hated this stoppage as well.

That wasn't the first time this has happened either (the Orton/Cena Iron Man match on Bragging Rights last year did this, as did Christian vs Shelton Benjamin from TLC).

Kids play outside, they fall over, they graze their elbows/knees etc. They bleed. Shit happens. It pissed me off.

RE: WWE Over The Limit discussion
i know what you mean. the biggest problem with blood stoppages is that it kills the whole storyline that the match has been built on. i mean let's face it we all know wrestling's fake but when we watch it we like to suspend our disbelief and just enjoy the show just like when we watch films and tv programs. but imagine if you're watching a film and you're enjoying it very much then all of a sudden something goes wrong and you hear the director yell "cut", then he goes over to argue with the actors and then they do another take and the film just carries on from there. that would totally kill the film right there and it's the same thing with wrestling. stopping the match due to blood loss, treating the cut and then continuing on with the match afterwards is just like yelling "cut" and doing another take. it's just fucking ridiculous.

The Punk-Mysterio match and the Cena-Batista match were very well done, even if it was a different result in the former to what I was expecting. Smile

Agreed that the PG friendly thing is killing the storylines though. Sort it out Vince. WWE used to be outstanding during the attitude era because of the hardcore scenes, and the crowd responded.

Nowadays the crowd can't always fully get into the matches because the stoppages kill the tempo. Sad

RE: WWE Over The Limit discussion
The issue for me isn't so much the PG thing, as the Rey/Punk angles aren't a purely kiddie thing. But when matches get stopped to tend to a cut or something, that's killing matches.

Ultimately though, I don't think the PG thing is quite as bad as some make out (TNA's been doing blood-heavy angles regularly of late, and the ratings aren't exactly stellar). Some people use it as a kind of crutch, something they can blame for everything wrong with WWE right now (apart from y'know, the inability to truly make any new stars, which I'd argue is a bigger problem. WWE is PG right now, purely as a business thing. They have a lot of shareholders to answer to, sponsorship deals and such as well. The Mattel deal they recently made for the action figures alone is a big deal, and they may not have got that if they were doing risque angles and such. Lot of money on the table.

All that said, I don't think it will last. Vince tends to go through phases on things. When he feels it's time, and it's the right thing for business, WWE will drop it. He ain't stupid.
