RE: ImageChunk Problem
Well, all these problems occurred after his last major update. I am wondering why he just doesn't revert back to the previous version, and scrap the last update. As it seems it's created more problems than it solved.

George is normally pretty quick to fix things, so I'm wondering what's happened to him.

I hope George gets it sorted too. I find IC very easy to use and use it a lot so it's a shame they've been having problems.

RE: ImageChunk Problem
I think I may have worked out the duplicate filename thing.

I use an app called MWSnap which autosaves snaps at the click of a button. By default it give the filenames snap001, snap002 etc, upto 999. So I often get repeated filenames when it goes from 999 to 001 and starts again. Imagechunk gets around this by adding _01, _02 etc to the end when you load a filename that's already there, so you end up with something like snap002_01.jpg and you don't see the error.

However I've noticed that either because of a deliberate change, or because there are just 99 of certain files, that some of my images now end up as e.g. snap753_99.jpg. So when another snap753 goes up it doesn't go to 100, instead complaining that it's a duplicate file.

Other image sites get around this by producing a random filename like K1xA6m.jpg, or these filenames could just go to _100 and more.

RE: ImageChunk Problem
The Major problem with ImageChunk and file names being duplicated, is that all the image files are stored in one folder on the ImageChunk site. Therefore you are bound to get duplicates more often.

I usually include a date within the filename, either the date it was capped, or the date it was uploaded. That way you very rarely get duplicates.

My linux screencapping program that I use, called scrot, takes a screenshot of the active window and automatically names the pic with the date and time it was captured.

It's a good tip, if your capturing direct from the stream. Big Grin But I tend to record the stream, because if I want to take HQ caps, I need to process the video first, and then take caps off that. So unfortunately I still have to batch rename my caps.

PS. Wazo, you could try http://www.imagebam.com as that's the one I use as a back-up image host.

RE: ImageChunk Problem
Right as we all know Imagechuck is being a pain in the arse at the moment.....here's what I am doing to combat its problems, this may not work for everyone!!

First off in my folder where i save my caps to instead of my usual method of saving which would be the Models initial followed by the number (eg K1, k2....) I have had to find letters that Imagechunk doesn't say number so and so already exists on this server.....for me I now have written cap1, cap2, cap3....right up to cap20 now I overwrite these every time but saving them to a caps folder before hand, and so far I have had no trouble at all this way.

Second is the no image single cap or thumbnail to combat this I go to add files and select the cap I want plus another one that I don't want so I am uploading 2 images and they both upload fine....obv copy them both from the BB CODE all at once section...then once pasted into your post just delete the image you don't want add ya links and then post away!!!

Like I said this works fine for me, if you try it I hope you have success Smile
