PS3 game recommendations.

So here it is, I've finally bit the bullet and bought a PS3. I'm so far out of date with the gaming world now, that I'm looking for recommendations as to what games I should be buying. Bear in mind that I'm a long way from wealthy, so preferably games that are a few months old so that the price has dropped a bit, if you don't mind. Oh, yeah, I don't like racing games very much, either...

It comes bundled with Virtua Fighter 5, Ferrari Challenge (which is going for trade-in), Smackdown vs Raw 2009 and Turok. Are any of that lot worth keeping? I've already ordered G.T.A. IV and Assasin's Creed as well, to save you typing something that's already on the way.

Any recommendations would be most welcome. Cheers for any advice you all can give me.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Heavenly Sword
Mirrors Edge
Prince of Persia
Bioshock
Fallout 3
Tekken 6

Any of the gaming crowd who have any feedback on those games and whether or not they're worth forking over for, I'd be most appreciative. I never trust game review sites (too tied into advertisers revenues, most times) and word of mouth has always led me to better gaming experiences than reviews.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: Okay start off with one of the best exclusives on the PS3, not as good as the second one but still probably in the top 3 exclusives on the system. A must buy for a PS3 owner.

Heavenly Sword: I cannot stress this enough, do not buy this game, do not even consider it any more, I got so bored of the game after the first 3 levels that I deleted all content of it and threw the game in the back of my wardrobe. I can think of nothing worthy with this game.

Mirrors Edge: Fun game, I thought it was a very good game, cool new concept, but the time trials (optional) are annoying as fuck.

Prince of Persia: I thought the new PoP was a very good game, people bashed it for being too easy because you kinda can't die but let us be fair, in every game you can't die, it just does it in a way that makes the game easier in this one.

Bioshock: Do not even consider this any more, go and buy it now.

Fallout 3: Ditto.

Tekken 6: Kal could probably answer this better, I have not played it but if it is anything like Dark Resurrection off the PSN Store then you can't really go wrong, it does exactly what you would expect, just a bit more unrefined than, say, Street Fighter IV.

Also you are forgetting one of the best exclusives on the PS3 that seems to have been overlooked by many, inFamous. It is GTA with super powers except I really liked it (I dislike most 3d GTA's), and is a very good game.

And out of the games you are getting with it I didn't think Virtua Fighter was up to much, or Turok. And if you have bought Assassin's Creed you need to get number 2 when you are done with it, it is so much better it is unreal, and I really liked the first one too.

Bit of a Girls Aloud, then? Looks amazing, but a bit lacking in quality with the part that actually matters.

If Uncharted is even half as good as everyone keeps telling me, I think I'll enjoy that one a great deal. The same applies to Bioshock; Fallout 3 should really be a no brainer as well, considering how much I loved the two PC originals and the unfairly maligned Fallout Tactics. I'm just tight and mean very cautious with money, so I always look for advice before shelling any out. Even something as small as a tenner on a game. Why do you think I've taken this long to actually join the current gen of consoles?

I would go for:

Uncharted 1 and 2, both brilliant games and the first one is well cheap now
Assassins Creed 1 and 2, you can pick the first one up for a tenner.
Dead Space - good again if you resident evil 5 you'll like, again i've seen it for a tenner.
Resistance 1 and 2 - Brilliant games good length and online modes and the first one is a tenner.
Super Street Fighter 4 - get that instead of street fighter 4 as its a stand alone game comes out in april and seen it pre - order for 20 quid.
Tekken 6 - thats a very good game if you like beat ups and want something different to street fighther 4, got loads of figthers, online modes and you can tailor make your fighters, managed to get mine for 17 quid, if you can find it for that price snap it up
Resident Evil 5 - class game and there releasing a add for this next year.
Call of duty Modern warefare 1 and 2
call of duty - world at war need i say more about these games.
Wipeout HD
Tiger Woods 2010
Fifa 2010
Killzone 2
Batman Arkham asylum - you can get for 20 quid in places
The Grid is decent racing game, play.com are doing that for a tenner now
Metal gear Solid 4
Ghostbusters is also a very fun game
God of War 3 and the collection are most when they come out next year and Gran Turismo 5 too.

Funnily enough, one of the games you mentioned - Resistance: Fall of Man - is something I'm just about to buy, since I can get it for £6.99 (pre-owned) from my local gaming shop.

Tekken will likely be the beat 'em up I go for, as I've always preferred the mechanics of that to the Street Fighter games. Tekken and the Virtua Fighter series in particular have always felt more... hefty, than Street Fighter, if that makes sense? There's a greater sense of impact with the blows that are landed and a feeling of reality from the throws and locks. I know they bear no resemblance to a real martial arts bout, but they're both more akin to a martial arts film, than the Street Fighter series is. Street Fighter has it's stylistic roots more in anime, than the cinematic inspiration of the other two series.

I'll probably end up buying MK vs DC Universe, as well. Purely for the sheer unadulterated geekery of it. How could I not want to perform a "Get over here!!" with Scorpion on Superman, The Joker or Batman?

No problem mate, got my copy Resistance: Fall of Man for the same price second too, Tekken 6 really is a good game taking me a while to get used to it again ain't played it in over 10 years but its all coming back tho lol there's so many modes and fighters so really do get your moneys worth there, I've seen Virtua Fighter on PS3 knocking around for a tenner over the internet, and with MK vs DC Universe seen that for about 12 quid too. You gotta get the uncharted games pure class, you can download a demo of the first game through the PS3 that s what i did and i got hooked on it .

dead space get's a big thumbs up from me mr.g - (it's got no zombies in it, honest mate ) probably get it for £10 or less now
