I am wondering is it possible to have a worse ever 11 without carlton palmer? I believe in good conscience that it is not. What was that old saying he covered every blade of grass trying to control the football.laugh

Carlton palmer would be in everyone's worst eleven. How he became a professional footballer is a mystery to me, us, the world and quite possibly Carlton himself. He would have been out of his depth in a sunday morning pub team but then again so would graham taylor.

I agree totally Alexxi except I feel that southgate and scales is a bit to harsh. They were both highly cultured footballers so unfortunately I feel that your team would be a touch to good to come up against my bunch of sunday footballers

I would have said colbert that youre team could rival my side except for konchelsky. Against Argentina he came on for wayne bridge and did a great job on man marking messi. For that reason I belive your team would win 1-0 against mine. Own goal by Lee dixon trying to knock the ball back 30 yards to Carson and lobbing him unwittingly in the process. Rember when he did that with David Seamen for Aresenal? ha ha bettter than sexlaugh

I'll throw two players into the mix:

Danny Mills and Barry Venison, if they don't make the worst Eng XI we've got problems, I mean Barry Venison!

Chris Powell too, what was he like 37 when he got the call up... and played twice, bizarre (emphasis on the BIZ!).

Oh Love, lets prove them wrong.

The saddest thing about Carlton Palmer was not that he will make most people's 'Worst XIs' but that Taylor thought he was worth picking for England 18 times!! I'm surprised he ever played 18 times for Sheffield Wednesday let alone England!

Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?

Carlton Palmer had 11 seasons at the top level (350 appearances), so he must have been a pretty good Premier League player. He was also an England under-21 international - before Graham Taylor's time - so his selection for the full England side wasn't really a bolt from the blue.
