Well I wasn't aware of that, I've just gone by what seems to be the general consensus around here. It would certainly SEEM to anyone at a glance that the Freeview channels are tamer, Partyland for example, would even have tamer text ads on it. 'Flirty' instead of 'filthy' etc.

Ok,agreed, so why is freeview different then?
Anyway, i think yes bangbabes is the best channel, with elite next. Mostly down to the girls on board, but they MUST sort out their aspect ratio and sound problems, its tiresome, and will ultimately cost them thier 'Best channel' status! annoyed

SNIP

It seems that the broadcasters, for whatever reason, have decided to patronise terrestrial viewers by only providing cut-down/sub-standard/extra tame versions of their channels on Freeview annoyed. There have been many suggestions as to why they do this, but, AFAIK, no definitive answer has been found. Cellcast set the precedent; sadly, Bang Media have, to a large degree, followed their example annoyed

I, for one, am thoroughly fed up with it. annoyedannoyedannoyed

It's an indisputable fact that all Freeview channels are tamer than Sky but there are no rules that say they have to be.

The only difference between Satellite FTA and terrestrial Freeview is that Satellite FTA comes with a pre-filled EPG, terrestrial freeview does not.

This is enough for ofcom to single out terrestrial freeview broadcasts and hit them with a total ban while satellite broadcasts remain unchanged.

There's a thread about it somewhere.

What on Earth are you talking about?

When you first switch on a Freeview receiver you have to select 'channel search', 'set-up' or something similar which automatically fills the EPG, which amounts to the same thing.

In any case, if what you say were true, since you are saying that satellite automatically fills the EPG without any user control, it would be a case for tighter rules for satellite, not terrestrial.

RE: Bang Babes on freeview
My bad.

I meant pre-filled categories in the EPG, which is the stick OfCom is planning on killing Freeview babeshows with. Babeshows go in the 'adult' section of the EPG, therefore fuddy-duddies don't see them.

The categories you get with Sky and Cable are because of the software on the box, there is no 'standard' software for freeview that's constantly updated like Sky and Cable. The only automatic sorting available is the channel numbers, anything beyond that is down to individual boxes and users creating favourite channels lists.

This is too dangerous for OfCom, so dangerous in fact, that they're going to ban all the babeshows from Freeview.

The military might be driving technology forward, but pornography is riding shotgun.

On Sky there is an option to lock out all adult channels (the so-called 900s), or to PIN protect the lot. That still works if new channels are added, and the lock applies to the whole block, so parents don't need to search the channel listings every day in case a new channel has launched, or get their hands dirty reading titles that they dislike.

On Freeview each channel must be separately locked. Each time a new channel launches it has to be locked. Parents might even need to do the same if a channel's details change but the number stays the same, like a new name (BabeBums becomes MumBabesXXX).

If only there was some sort of industry regulator who could encorage best practice.

Where?

Official OFCOM documents are available for all to see, but as I said to you in my other reply "what's official and what goes on behind the scenes are two different things", never underestimate that...

No, and she’s not allowed to do it on Sky either, at least not without adequate cover, as Ofcom have made quite clear in their latest judgement.

Sure and if certain people at OFCOM really had their way these channels would cease to exist on ALL platforms...

(05-11-2009 13:12 )Winston Wolfe Wrote:  Buck stops with OFCOM, they make the rules...

Which, as has been posted many, many, many times, are EXACTLY THE SAME for all broadcasting platforms. There is ONLY ONE Broadcasting Code.

Yeah, the rules as they stand suggest it's the same for all platforms, but the one thing rulemakers like to do is make more rules! It's about "foresight", capiche... There was always going to be issues with Freeview... Fact is these channels have only been on Freeview for just over a year (Bang Babes just recently). They have been on Sky for many years... Sky have an "Adult Section", Freeview is a bunch of random channels...

I'm here to help - if my help's not appreciated then lotsa luck, gentlemen.
