That's a very good question that cropped up last night in the chat and I am indebted to Fernsboy Cool for this remark which sparked a thought:

I'd assumed that they lost a cog as part of a plan but suppose they've lost 923 because Sky doesn't like their 480p resolution or there's no need to pay for two channels at the moment when it's fuzzy.

Hi Guys new here long time lurker you might find this interesting. I don't have a sky system as mine is motorised. Occasionally I have to rescan for new channels and edit dead channels or a refresh. The 2 s66 channels which have left sky are still active apart from the first studio 66 no video or audio. I have a spare receiver just in case checked that one and the 2 channels are still there. If there is no signal I normally get tuner error.

Honestly mate sky are not going to be bothered what the picture quality is like , all they want is the money for the slot and epg, to say sky took the channel of them due to picture quality is just plain wrong,
It's also not as easy as you make out to restart a channel plus why would they they financial problems have been well documented so by only having on channel it's a huge saving, plus this was always there plan going back months I therefore am sure it had nothing to do with covid ,

I think the financial position of St66 has been well documented but in terms of the decision of dropping the channel would they have known for some time it was likely to happen? in other words would they have known or had an idea any sanction from OFCOM could have seen them being stripped of a channel & licence and acted before any OFCOM action?

^^ back in the spring i was told that the plan was to be only one channel by the end of the year, so it was always planned but you are right it could have been speeded up with what happened with ofcom , as its seen them go 3 to 1 almost over night, i think 923 would have always gone when it did but the other one may have lasted longer with out them doing the rumoured deal with ofcom,

On the contrary, their financial position is actually pretty good, as their company accounts clearly demonstrate.

If anything to the contrary has been 'well documented', are we allowed to see any of these supposed documents?

are you really that silly that you don't understand what the term well documented means, it don't mean there is one thing u can see, it means there is a lot written about it in the 66 general thread, so yes you can read all about it, also at no point did i talk about there position at the moment as is clear from my post which again you some how have failed to under stand i am talking about last year which lead to the choice in the spring to drop down to one channel, to improve the finances of a company don't happen over night you need to make choices in at a point that could take 6 months to really show an improvement which dose seam to be whats happening, i think you need to go back and read last years posts so you can understand how they have got to where they are now,

Yes written by you.

So in plain English, there is not a single shred of credible evidence to support any of your claims about financial problems.

Yes last year, when their financial position was also pretty good, as their company accounts clearly demonstrate.

Can you provide a link to last years company accounts, that demonstrate the financial position of the company was also pretty good ? .

PS, which company is it that you are referring too ?

A rather dubious claim by winsaw, to put it mildly.

In reality, Studio 66 have been running down the TV side of the business for some time. It's their policy of trying to get viewers online and away from the TV that is the cause of them needing less TV channels, not any supposed financial problems.
