Really folks, try one. You'll be surprised at how well the mouse picks up the returned signal, you'll be glad to finally find a use for all those unsolicited junk mail items, such as credit card bills and final demands from the water company (I know I am) and what's more, it's cost effective and you aren't adding to your carbon footprint by purchasing a mousemat you don't really need.
