The screen limitation is probably a more likely reason...
Nope, at present VGA is a loophole for AACS protection as it is counted as a computer connection and therefore not subject to the same restrictions as other analogue signals more normally used for A/V equipment Cool

I don't even know who I am so you'll forgive me if I ask 'Who the f**k do you think you are?!'

Really? I'm not exactly using state of the art equipment here but my VGA cabling on my desktop unit has had no problem dealing with 1600*1200 (AKA 1600p) Tongue Big Grin
I think what you might be pointing at is a limitation of the screen. I should have mentioned before Blush More than a few LCDs don't support their full native resolution on their VGA connections. Check your manual

no m8 you go by the vertical resolution. 1600/1200 1200p(progressive) and is achieved by running the monitor at higher than 60hz normally around 85hz for a crt or 75 for lcd. its a slight cheat as the higher hz enable higher rez, but if the monitor was running at 60hz and 1600/1200 it will flicker like crazy due to the timings of the vga output.
as i said higher rez on vga needs higher hz.
