A thread to highlight the changes that are being made by the manufacturing, packaging and transport industries.
Beer brand Carlsberg is in the development stages of creating a range of beer bottles made from paper.
Their ambition is to eventually create a 100 per cent bio-based bottle without polymers, an aim which forms part of Carlsberg's wider sustainability goals to achieve zero carbon emissions

I do feel that the threat of the climate crisis is one that is too large for democracy to handle. Democracy for all its virtues is too slow, too vulnerable to a change in direction for a problem that needs this level of attention. If any government gave the amount of focus & resources necessary towards the climate crisis they would be voted out.
So i do think technology & the private sector is the way to go. Where governments can play a role is with legislation that helps grease the wheels of this process as well as introducing punitive measures for organisations that dont comply.
In addition though i believe that because governments were too slow to act it has allowed other sectors to be too slow to act and we need to buy some time. That is why i believe that the public & private sector need to come together to create carbon sinks, plant the trees, sea grass etc delay the process long enough that we can find a more permanent solution

It's been reported this week that Tesco have removed the plastic for their multibrand products. Things like baked beans will no longer be wrapped in 4's.

I was in Aldi this week and I noticed a product that they were pushing.
Just Water. It's been around for a year now but it's only just hitting the shelves.
It is made from paper/cardboard with a top which is made from sugar cane.
Jaden Smith and his parents Just Water company is now valued at 100 million dollars.
But tap water is still a better option

I wonder how that would affect the taste of the beer?
i wonder if we'll ever have taps outside pubs or shops to re fill beer & wine bottles to cut back on rubbish?

When I lived in the midlands some years back, one of the local off-licenses had several kegs so you could take your own bottles in and fill with lager, cider or bitter.
This was over 20 years back, so the idea is far from new, just hasn't gained any real traction in the marketplace thus far.
