Ugly ship design Sad
Firstly it was from test footage so it's not one hundred percent it's gonna totally look like that, secondly it looks more like the NX class star ships from Star Enterprise which was 80 years before Kirk, Star Trek Discovery is set before Kirk so the ship isn't gonna look great and it's going back to basics the show plus I heard each season might be a different time period.

No, not at all. Rolleyes

It's appropriate for the time period, as Kal-El has just pointed out.

i have to agree. i hope they're going to do a battle star gallactica type remake, less camp and more serious in tone. i never really got into star trek for those reasons. but if it's half as good as bsg, i'll watch happily.
The timeline will be 10 years before Captain Kirk 5 year mission and will bridge the events of Star Trek Enterprise to original The lead character will be female and not actually be a rank of Captain they will introduce a gay character in the series and the show will be closer to Gene Roddenberry vision of Star Trek. The series will be set in prime universe not the kelvin Star Trek universe.
Little bit of trivia that worked on the Battlestar Ronald D Moore has worked on the Star Trek shows before he worked on Star Trek Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager. He actually wrote a script which was passed on to Roddenberry and he liked it so much he was asked to join the staff that script became the Ep titled "The Bonding" in season 3 of next gen.
Bryan Fuller who's working on Star Trek Discovery also worked on Star Trek Voyager and DS9 and Nicholas Meyer who directed Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country will be working on the show too.
