In my User Control Panel, under the Brief Account Summary, I notice that there category called 'Primary User Group'.

Is this a new addition and to what does it refer?
I've noticed that too my user group is A - have no idea what that means, unless it has something to do with the amount of posts you make, maybe Admin could clarify what it all means just out of curosity more than anything Cool
i'm registered F.... is that good? i dunno

My area of expertise is vbulletin, but I'd guess its much the same with mybb :

Within the forum software, you have and can create different 'usergroups', for example, admin, moderators, registered members, banned members etc

These usergroups obviously have different permissions on the forum, allowing them to access different areas, or edit/delete posts etc

Members typically have 2 levels of usergroup membership, a single Primary group, and however many Secondary groups.
Having secondary group membership allows you to give members different permissions by assigning them to additional groups. For example, on this forum, you may have a moderator group which has mod rights to the general forum areas, and additional moderator groups that have mod rights in particular channel sections, Elite, BS, RLC etc. You could then make someone a mod for a particular channel section by assigning them to the general moderator group as their primary group, and the particular channel moderator group as a secondary membership. The primary group typically controls things like the colour of your username.

So, here, the Primary User Group is simply the main usergroup that you belong to. Two groups are mentioned here 'Registered A' and 'Registered F'. I would assume these are just slight variations of the general group for registered members, hansomeBOB has a different colour username, perhaps that is the clue to the different groups Smile

No, it's not a new addition. It's been there all along. As to what it refers to, I would say that munch has given a good explanation of the concept of usergroups and therefore answered the question very well.
Random words on the forum have now seem to have become links to other sites. I take it this a form of advertising, and a source of revenue for the forum.

It's not a problem at all, it's just the first highlighted word I saw was 'warning' below my avatar Surprised laugh

No, definitely not. It's not a source of revenue for the forum. Your computer is carrying some adware.
