After having checked all the 17 pages for threads I was amazed that not one of them has one soley devoted to Scottish Football, I would like to start this one for which the topic of discussion should only be with regard to Scottish football club teams and the national team alone and nothing else. My team ofcourse is Dundee United with the most recent success being winning the Scottish Cup in 2010, a day I will allways remember fondly down to the very fabric of the magnificant sportsman and fair play from both sides. All Scottish teams and discussions are welcome.

My nan is Scottish, so I've always had a slight interest in Scottish football since I was a kid. Obviously not being Scottish I don't support any team as such but I always liked Rangers so have always kept an eye out for their scores or watched them on the T.V.

However after managing to see one Scottish team in action this season. Inverness Caledonian Thistle Big Grin (albeit a pre season friendly at my beloved Aldershot Town) I vowed to 'follow' them from then on. (How fickle fans can be haha)
We had a great laugh with the supporters who stayed drinking, enjoying the banter and singing each others teams songs well into the night

Good win against Kilmarnock last weekend. Hopefully a platform for their season.
One team that has surprised many this season has to be Motherwell, they've had a great start and are neck and neck with Celtic for that 2nd spot, teams outside the big 2 naturally want to see a challenge coming from somebody if your own team is unable to do so as we all have a collective interest in one day seeing the title go elsewhere for a change, Aberdeen were the last team in 1985 to break this mold, my own team Dundee United team managed it in 1983 and Hearts have come close a few times in recent years, I believe with the lack of money that currently exists in the scottish game that more and more clubs are going to have to have to rely heavily on their younger players coming through the ranks and this for me offers the best opportunity for the Old Firm stranglehold to be broken, also sadly not enough folk up here are getting behind their local teams instead opting for either Rangers or Celtic, without the likes of your Brechin City's and Forfars there would be no Scottish Football Cool

Sadly that is the same for England to mate Sad I quite agree, and it would be nice if people supported their local sides, even if it was just for a few games a season. Unfortunately it's to easy to sit on your arse and watch Sky sports following the big sides.

It would be great to see the old firm split up, although on the flip side. If the arguably smaller sides can start producing top young players it'll benefit the national side as well as put a few pennies in the bank. Cool
What's pissed me off today is we had no SPL football today down to the fact Scotland played a meaningless friendly game against cyprus, so we won 2-1 last night, no big deal against a side whereas the only time otherwise you visit the country would be for a cheap holiday, and at a time of the year with winter approaching and games most likely to get called off due to frozen pitchs and hellish weather, and yet this international game appears to take more importance than important and vital SPL games, I mean we didn't even quailify for Euro 2012, yet another tournment left out in the wilderness yet again and we decide to undertake in the madness of this which was no more than a kick around in the sun, the SFA has got a lot to answer for when we end up with a backlog of fixtures still left to play in April Important
Ahhh right so Goodwillie can score then i did wonder why we paid money for the guy, you can have him back if you like Big Grin

Your more than welcome to give us goody back, our form has declined dramatically since his departure, some of the goals he scored for us would make Wayne Rooney stand up and take notice and that's no exaggeration Important

East Stirling got a draw! Woo-hoo! shocked
Given what's happened to Goodwillie off the field in last 18 months he wouldn't want to come back to Scotland and I couldn't blame him!!
I am not Scottish but grew up on the 70's when they had cracking footballers left right and centre. It's sad to see the League at the level it's at now.
